When we talk about careers and opportunities, we always love more. Nobody would like to let go of any opportunity. But what if your declining health doesn’t allow you to go and get that opportunity? Would you prioritize your health or choose that trophy of success?
People have different perceptions about this situation. Famous dancer Witney Carson went through a similar dilemma when she found out that she had been diagnosed with Melanoma, a type of skin cancer, right before moving to LA and living her dream.
The 28-year-old dancer revealed how she felt after coming to know that she had cancer. Moreover, witney felt like she would miss the opportunity, but she just couldn’t let that happen.
After two surgeries, when she got back to work, Witney wasn’t ready to talk about her condition. She felt embarrassed to tell people that she had skin cancer. As an athlete, she always wanted to appear healthy.
Witney told People Magazine– “I think I was embarrassed only in the fact that I was an athlete and I was supposed to be encompassing everything healthy and fit. I was supposed to be doing all the right things to be an athlete, and so it was embarrassing for me to be like, ‘Yes, I had. I was sick. I was literally sick.’ The producers didn’t know. My partner didn’t know. I wanted people to think I was perfectly healthy.”
But she fought back bravely and came back stronger. Witney shared an incident where she ripped off her stitches by dancing in full force after surgery. It shows how passionate she is about her career.
Furthermore, Witney also talked about using tanning beds that might have contributed to the development of skin cancer. Her parents are also skin cancer survivors.
At present, she spreads awareness about skin cancer with EltaMD.Her husband is also very aware of skin cancer and always protects his son from the son.
