Finally, from the 1st of October, the government of Canada has decided to remove all the current COVID-19 restrictions. The statement was announced by the government on Monday as per the report.
“The Government of Canada will not renew the order in council that expires on September 30 and will therefore remove all Covid-19 border requirements for all travelers entering Canada,” said Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos.
“This includes the removal of all federal testing quarantine and isolation requirements as well as a mandatory submission of health information in ArriveCAN,” he said.
All the people who are completely vaccinated are now allowed to enter the borders of Canada. However, anyone who is not vaccinated has to stay quarantined for fourteen days. Once the quarantine period is completed. he/she can explore Canada to the fullest.
“This means that as of October 1 travelers will no longer be required to undergo health checks for travel on air and rail or wear masks on planes and trains,” said Omar Alghabra, Minister of Transport.
“Airlines will no longer need to review the vaccination status of foreign nationals, confirm travelers have submitted their required information in ArriveCAN, or ensure compliance with the pre-entry testing requirements.”
For anyone who does not know what the ArriveCan app is, it is basically an application that was initiated by the government of Canada. It was introduced by the government for travelers to input the details related to their health. The main reason for the invention of this app was to have a record of everyone’s vaccination report. Nonetheless, from October 1st, it is not mandatory for travelers to update their health status using the ArriveCan mobile app. The government has said that it is the choice of travelers if they want to spend some time at the airport and update their health status or choose to take a pass.
“Similar changes will also apply to passengers traveling by cruise,” added Alghabra. Any traveler traveling on a cruise will no more have to show his/her vaccination report. In addition to this, there is no requirement to take a COVID-19 test at the airport or before reaching Canada.
While masks and hand sanitizers are no more a compulsion, the government of Canada has still advised everyone to use them. The ministers in Canada are extremely happy that the vaccination rate has increased. A lot of people have already acquired the required vaccine. However, before the announcement was made, it was also found that the total number of COVID-19 cases have been increased in Canada. Therefore, it is advised that everyone follows the safety precautions.
Even though the total number of deaths due to coronavirus is reduced, people are getting hospitalized every day. Henceforth, government officials have asked everyone to stay safe and healthy.
