Lately, some devotees in the USA were seel celebrating the Rath Yatra at Florida Beach. The video of this event went viral on the internet in a blink of an eye. Basically, Rath Yatra is a festival that is celebrated all over India on the 1st of July every year.
The Rath Yatra was finally celebrated by the people of Puri, Odisha after straight two years. It was because of the COVID 19 pandemic that people did not get together to celebrate the festival.
People get together, dress up nicely, and take out the chariots of Sister Devi Subhadra, Lord Baldev (elder brother), and Lord Jagannath. The video in the USA went viral where people from all across the world got together and were seen pulling the Rath on Florida Beach. According to the sources, the wonderful video was taken in Tampa, Florida.
For those of you who do not know why the Rath Yatra takes place, it is because this is a special day that marks the nine-day sojourn of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at a temple named Gundichha. This is one of the festivals that is celebrated beautifully by the people residing in Odisha. It is celebrated with sheer happiness and joy across the globe.
Every single year, people built three different chariots so that the event can take place beautifully. The chariots are for Lord Jagannath, Sister Subadhra, and elder brother Lord Balabadhra. Million of devotees do their best in pulling the chariots they have prepared. They take them to the Gundicha temple and celebrate the festival in the best possible way.
The Rath Yatra last for fifteen days and devotees touch the feet of the lords because they believe that doing so will help them get rid of all the sins they have committed. In addition to this, they also believe that touching the feet of the Lord will bring them peace and happiness.
