Just when a number of countries decided to finish all the COVID-19 restrictions and lockdown, the news made it to the headlines and left everyone worried. China has implemented new lockdowns and border controls in response to the Covid epidemic, and the nation has also discovered new Omicron sub-variants that are extremely contagious and more transmissible, BF.7 and BA.5.1.7.
BF.7 is a sub-lineage of the Covid Omicron variation BA.5.2.1, commonly referred to as BA.2.75.2.
The BF.7 was discovered on October 4 in Yantai and Shaoguan city, as per local news outlets.
According to Global Times, the subvariant BA.5.1.7 was discovered for the very first moment on the Chinese mainland.
The extremely contagious BF.7 subvariant had received a warning from the World Health Organization.
While extensive Covid bans prevented people from traveling or shopping, confidence in the economy is continuing to decline as vacation expenditure over China’s Golden Week fell to its lowest point in seven years.
In order to follow Party policy, prove their allegiance to President Xi Jinping, and avoid any widespread breakout that may endanger their career days just before Party Congress, state communities are stepping up their efforts to implement zero-Covid.
In mainland China, the number of newly diagnosed cases of COVID is rising, which has prompted several city councils to impose travel restrictions.
According to declarations, several of Shanghai’s central neighborhoods on Monday instructed entertainment establishments like cyber cafes to shut immediately. Apart from this various buildings are also shut.
China has made sure that a message is displayed to the public that says “lockdown is imposed”. Recently, a number of people who were quarantined caught the virus and tested positive for COVID-19. This is majorly why the government of China decided to announce a lockdown for a short period of time.
Until and unless the situation gets under control, the government will not uplift the lockdown. In addition to this, they have also restricted travel. Henceforth, anyone who had to travel outside China will now have to postpone the journey.
The cities near China have also decided to shut down in order to avoid the rise in cases. People are asked to follow all the safety protocols and not travel until and unless it is very urgent. Hand sanitizers and face masks are a must. In order to do this, anyone who is still not vaccinated is recommended to get it as soon as possible.
