There have been recent rumors that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have adopted a new dog. A beagle that was just rescued from a testing facility was brought home by the couple.
As per the report by Pinkvilla, the dog, which they named Momma Mia, was one of the 4,000 beagles authorities took from a testing lab last month after it was closed down for multiple animal welfare breaches.
Puppies provided by the Envigo factory for use in biotech and pharmaceutical research were kept in appalling conditions, it was discovered. It was found that many of the canines were underweight and kept in cages with piles of feces and food leftovers. Last year, between January and July, there were more than 300 puppy deaths at the facility. Shannon Keith, an attorney for animal rights, told the LA Times that she received a call from an unknown number and had no idea who it was.
The activist recalled, “She phones on my cell with no Caller ID and says, “Hey Shannon, this is Meghan.” Shannon said, according to Page Six: “I wondered for the first 30 minutes of our talk, “Is this Megan Fox? The royal couple paid a low-key visit to see the dogs at a property in the San Fernando Valley, but she didn’t find out who the mysterious caller was until then.
Two security guards escorted the couple, and no photos were taken. Given that Mia is seven years old, according to Keith, Markle decided against adopting a puppy as most people do in favor of helping an older dog. As Meghan supported Mia, the activist recalled, she said, “We’re taking her in.” We don’t want a Christmas puppy, she said. We want older people who we can aid.”
Other than this, Meghan has also been in the limelight due to its first podcast episode with Serena Williams recently, where she opened up about the topic of “Misconception of Ambition.”
