The minister is of the view that Serbia is influenced by Russia, and under its influence, it’s trying to destabilize Kosovo.
Serbia is being accused of supporting the people of the Serb minority living in Northern Kosovo. These people have blocked roads recently after the matter has escalated to new levels.
The protests have heated a lot, resulting in increased tensions between Pristina and Belgrade. Protesters have erected new barricades in the Mitrovica region of Northern Kosovo.
These new barriers are made with loaded trucks that are parked on the roads in Mitrovica. The protestors put up these barriers in just a few hours during the last night.
This kind of blocking is the first to be notified so far in the entire matter. These barricades block the entrance to the main towns of Kosovo.
Previously the barricades were erected on the Kosovo-Serbia border roads.
Now, the trucks that are parked on the roadblock the area that links the majority of Serb to the Albanian part.
However, Serbia has claimed that they don’t have any links with the ongoing protests in Kosovo. Serbia says they only want the protection of the Serbian minority in the Kosovan boundary.
Specifically, the country talked about the Serb minority that is not recognized by Belgrade.
In the entire matter, Belgrade has instructed its army and police departments to be active in the country. They have started high-level patrolling in the areas where protests can erupt.
Belgrade’s decision to put armed forces on the front is driven by the doubt that Kosovo might attack the Serbs and remove the barricading.
Ever since the start of this protest, the Serbs have formed various blockades in the Mitrovica area. The protestors have been involved in gunfire exchanges as well with the Kosovo police.
This happened after the Kosovo police arrested one of the former Serb police officers who was working in the Kosovar force.
Now the main motive behind these protests is the demand for the release of the arrested officer by the Kosovo police. Noticed this but the demands also are regarding the issues over the car licensing plates that were heated up during the last month.
The issue of licensing plates took place after the Kosovo government demanded that the cars registered in Serbia should get reissued with Pristina. Now, this has become a conflict of interests, and the Serbs have refused to agree to this demand.
The nearly 50,000 Serbs who are residents of northern Kosovo deny the rule of the Pristina government. The Serbs have always approved of Belgrade as their capital, and they want to use Serbian license plates on their cars.
However, in recent developments, various diplomats in Kosovo have stated that these barricades are not just a coincidence. In their view, it’s a tactic used by the Serbian government under the guidance of Russia.
