COVID-19 is one disease that shook the whole world. With a number of deaths taking place every single day, people thought twice before stepping out of their houses. However, things got better with time but the virus has not gone away. This was why the military members were afraid. But it seems like an option is present for them. Recently, the Defense Department made an announcement that Novavax is an option available for Military members. If they have not gotten their vaccinations for COVID-19, this is one vaccine that can be obtained.
It was on August 19 when the Food and Drug Administration polished their July 13 Emergency Use Authorization. It said that anyone 12 years of age or older can obtain the Novavax vaccine for COVID-19.
At present, our military treatment facilities consist of different COVID-19 vaccines. All of them have the ability to offer protection against death, severe illness, and hospitalization says the deputy director of the Defense Health Agency, Michael Malanoski.
Other options of vaccines that are available for military members are from Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna. Anybody who is not vaccinated to date can select an option of their choice. Nevertheless, if anyone wants to obtain Novavax only, and if it is not available, the staff will make sure that they make an arrangement for the vaccine as soon as possible.
According to the experts, the Novavax vaccine basically uses technology. It is also said that the same technology has been used in other vaccines and military members have received the same dose.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Novavax is not authorized to be used as a booster dose.
Even though all the vaccines that are available for COVID-19 work wonders for the immune system, Novavax is different from all of them. Since Novavax is a protein subunit vaccine it differs from other vaccine options, says Air Force Col. Tonya Rans. She also said that protein subunit vaccines are the best vaccines. They have been used for decades to prevent severe diseases.
However, Novavax does give side effects like fatigue, body pain, and headache. But this lasts for a short period of time only.
