According to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, most of the officials of Russia have started to prepare its residents when it comes to having a clear understanding of using nuclear weapons. Nonetheless, he also adds that it is not easy to believe that Russia is actually ready to use them in the best manner.
A BBC interview with Zelensky contradicted his earlier remark that he had called for strikes on Russia, claiming the translation was wrong. It is better to make use of preventive kicks, says Volodymyr where he clearly mentions sanctions and tries to avoid any type of attack.
With a successful counter-offensive in earlier weeks, Ukrainian army members have recovered large swathes of territory and urged Russian troops to discard long-held positions.
President Vladimir Putin had also merged 4 partly controlled parts of Ukraine, which Kyiv views as Moscow’s retaliation for its setbacks.
The settlements, which are regarded as unlawful by the majority, have sparked worries about a potential uptick in the seven-month battle. There is currently no indication, according to official sources, that Moscow is willing to protect such places with nuclear weapons, although President Putin as well as other prominent Russian figures openly recommended doing so.
There at the office of the president in Kyiv, President Zelensky spoke in English and said: “They start preparing their society. That is extremely risky.
“They are not ready to do it, to use it. But they begin to communicate. They don’t know whether they’ll use or not use it. I think it’s dangerous to even speak about it.”
Then, in Ukrainian, he said through a translator: “What we see is that Russia’s people in power like life, and thus I think the risk of using nuclear weapons is not that definite as some experts say, because they understand that there is no turning back after using it, not only the history of their country but themselves as personalities.”
He claimed that the Ukrainian phrase he had been using when in an interactive session on Thursday had already been misinterpreted, although he later retracted repeatedly calling for attacks against Russia.
The original remark was criticized as “a call to ignite once again another world war” by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed it proved Russia was justified in starting its action in Ukraine.
Once the translation was finished, President Zelensky also added, “they [the Russians] did their way, how it’s useful for them, and began to retranslate it in other directions.”
A few moments preceding the interview, US President Joe Biden claimed that the nation had never been so near to “Armageddon” ever since Cold War’s Cuban Missile Crisis due to Russia’s threatening to deploy nuclear weapons.
Russia’s warnings, according to President Zelensky, are a “danger for the entire humankind,” so something must be done right away. He asserted that Moscow has “taken a significant step previously” by capturing the biggest nuclear reactor in Europe, Zaporizhzhia, which President Putin is attempting to transform into Russian territory.
Even though the facility is still controlled by Ukrainian employees, he said that 500 Russian forces were present there.
“The world can stop urgently the actions of Russian occupiers,” President Zelensky said. “The world can implement the sanction package in such cases and do everything to make them leave the nuclear power plant.”
