It’s a city full of amazing art and monuments. During your stay, plan out some days to explore Madrid and enjoy the experience of watching a live football match. You might also get a chance to see legends such as Ronaldo or Messi playing live.

Barcelona

Barcelona is well-known for being the city where Messi and Gaudi once ruled the world of football. Barcelona will undoubtedly make you feel good inside.

When visiting Barcelona, be sure to check out Antoni Gaudi’s outstanding creations. You will see Gaudi-designed structures on every street you pass in Barcelona since his creations have become so ingrained in the city’s culture.

It is one of the greatest destinations in Spain to spend the summer since it has world heritage monuments. During your trip to Spain, be sure to visit Barcelona. Some of the city’s greatest attractions are La Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila, Park Guell, and Casa Batllo.

Granada

Granada is another Spanish city with a diverse culture. You will be left speechless by its magnificent architecture, which tells of its illustrious past and rich history.

Granada is also the ideal location for someone who loves the mountains. You’ll be transported to a fairyland by the ostentatious and beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains.

But you just cannot overlook the renowned Alhambra. Alhambra, Generalife, Royal Chapel of Granada, and Catedral de Granada are a few of Granada’s prominent attractions.

Some hidden gems of Spain

Although Spain is a very popular summer vacation destination, there are several regions of the country where you can go in peace and discover a different side of the country altogether.

There is plenty to see in Spain besides resorts and beaches, from little villages in the south to the wilds of Aragon.

Here are a few summertime travel suggestions for Spain, including a few more unusual places.

Rías Baixas, Galicia

Visit Ras Baixas, the five estuaries (rias) that pierce the Galician coastline, for a beach vacation that will make you feel at home.

The Ras Baixas are protected by a chain of islands called Ces, Ons, Sálvora, and Rá, even though Galicia is significantly colder than southern Spain.

Although the water can be a little cooler than you might assume, the Atlantic coast is surprisingly quiet, and the rias feature some of the nicest beaches in the nation.

The highlight of your trip, if you have the time, should be a day adventure or overnight stay to one of the surrounding islands. Most now limit visitor numbers, so request permission in advance.

The Playa del Rodas on the Cies islands has been recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and ferries often depart from Vigo, Cangas, or Baiona.

Basque Country

Euskadi also referred to as the Basque Country, is a tranquil and lovely area in Northern Spain that is ideal for summer travel. There are 45 beaches scattered around the rocky yet beautiful coastline, some of which are really tiny in size.

Explore some of the Basque countrysides for something a little more off the beaten path. The Blue-Flag Playa de Itzurun in Zumaia, which is renowned for its unique ridges that protrude from the ocean and are bordered by rocky cliffs, is where you should go.

The Playa de Zarautz, which has a large stretch of sand, fantastic surfing, and a seafront studded with restaurants and bars, is located about 20 minutes east of Itzurun.

Matarranya, Aragon

When you first arrive at Matarrana, you would believe that you have found a remote location in this crowded country, undisturbed by the outside world.

In the shadows of the highest peaks, olive gardens border lush valleys, and pine trees climb the hillsides

The Parrizal Canyon, located in Matarrana, is about three hours’ drive from Barcelona. Hike through the gorge while surrounded by cliffs and swimming holes. There are kayaking and swimming options further down the river.

Driving across the countryside at a slow pace is ideal in this place. Follow the single-track road out of La Portellada towards the town of Rafales for an unforgettable day trip. Since there aren’t many people in this region, seeing animals is surprisingly simple.

If you have time, visit the nearby bird observatory Mas de Bunyol to observe wild, black vultures eating and try to find uncommon animals.

Menorca

It is an island that is more suited to families than Ibiza and Mallorca. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea and has white-washed towns, turquoise waves, and beaches made of fine sand.

This is a fantastic beach location in the summer because there aren’t as many people there as on its adjacent islands.

There is a calmer atmosphere that is ideal for peaceful mornings and daydreaming afternoons.

Paradise is what Calas Macarella’s pristine seas and breathtaking sea vista seem like. For a more remote beach, visitors may also hike to Cala Escorxada.

Empordà, Catalonia

Empordà is a part of Catalonia that reaches from Girona’s northern border all the way to the French border. It’s a nice, serene area with wide scenery that brings to mind Tuscany.

A verdant, fertile area dotted with olive groves, farms, and trees. La Pera, Monells, and Peratallada are just a few of the little, quaint, medieval villages that dot this idyllic landscape, making it ideal for a leisurely journey.

Try Madremanya, a charming town with recognizable stone structures. If you’re looking for a calm and peaceful place to enjoy, spend some days here.

Activities to do while spending the summer in Spain

Take part in La Tomatina Festival

It’s time for you to color the world in a shade of red. Do you genuinely wish to experience Spanish culture?

If so, take part in Spain’s festivals, which are among the most popular and exciting in the entire globe. La Tomatina is an event you must attend if you are in Spain.

It is one of the finest celebrations in Spain where people like tossing tomatoes at one another.

Other summer festivities observed in Spain include La Fallas de Valencia and San Fermín. Therefore, put the date August 30 on your calendar to enjoy the upcoming La Tomatina festival.

Scuba Diving

Spanish waterways are rich in history and contain aircraft crashes and sunken ships

If you get the opportunity to explore these waters, you’ll discover that they are thrilling and lively, giving fantastic cave dives, endless colour in enormous gorgonian gardens, and floors covered with vivid green seagrass.

Along its coastline, Spain also has a number of natural marine reserves where you may enjoy the untamed beauty of the ocean without any human disturbance.

But diving in Spain is not just limited to the sea; great lake diving is also available. Diving in alpine lakes is a well-liked activity in many places.

Running of the Bulls

The festival of San Fermin’s lasts for a week, and you will get a rare experience there.

The legendary “Running of the Bulls” (encierro, in Spanish) is the festival of San Fermin‘s primary attraction, even though other activities and events occur during the week.

Every day of the event starts at 8 a.m. Six bulls follow the runners through the narrow lanes of Pamplona’s old town for around 850 meters until they arrive at the bullring.

However, the running of the bulls is a highly celebrated and quite famous sport that one should see at least once in a lifetime.

Visit remote beaches on a hike or bike.

Beachgoing is a popular activity in this region, and you’ll undoubtedly fall in love with a particular stretch of Spain’s 5470 km (3400-mile) coastline.

Escape the masses by traveling by foot, bicycle, or horseback to serene, off-the-beaten-path coves.

You can go on a hike to reach turquoise coves along Menorca’s Cam de Cavalls, a restored 14th-century walkway; stroll through natural bays with pebbles along the Costa Brava, or Andaluca’s breezy Costa de la Luz, which are also great for kitesurfing.

Visit a distant natural wonderland to see the rich wildlife

If you are someone who enjoys wildlife in its true natural environment Spain is the perfect destination for you.

Several of Spain’s most cherished vulnerable species, such as the Iberian lynx, the Cantabrian brown bear, and the magnificent quebrantahuesos, have recently recovered from the verge of extinction thanks to significant conservation efforts (lammergeier).

If you want to see a lynx, head out to the steep Parque Natural Sierra de Andujar near Andalucia, or go to the isolated Parque Natural de Somiedo in southwest Asturias where you might also see a brown bear.

Skydiving in Spain

Spain is one of the top skydiving locations in Europe, offering an exhilarating experience together with stunning views over the countryside.

Every adventure seeker’s dream is to be able to see Europe from the air, where its magnificent beauty can be appreciated.

Don’t worry if you are a first-timer. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable but also reassuring, and they guarantee you’ll have the finest fun when jumping from 15,000 feet.

Additionally,  you also get the option to record your ride on camera or video so you can enjoy it forever.

Bottom Line

After knowing about everything Spain has to offer. Don’t hold yourself back and go enjoy the upcoming summers in Spain. This country of tomatoes will not let you down for sure!

If you wanna spend some quality time with your loved ones or wanna explore this adventurous country on a solo trip on your own. This makes Spain the perfect destination for you.

From happening clubs to silent golden beaches, however, you want to spend your time here. You get a new culture, cuisine, and tradition at every turn. You will unfold something new in every city in this diverse country.

So what are you waiting for? Go tick this amazing country off your bucket list this summer.
