Now finally Netflix has decided to get rid of the LGBTQ tag from Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. This decision was taken by them after facing severe backlash from the audience. For all those who do not know, Dahmer is a series that is about a serial killer. He is precisely categorized with the tag of LGBTQ. However, there wasn’t a great response from the viewers after which Netflix decided to remove it.
Netflix usually mentioned tags with every film and series so that it becomes simple for the viewers to find what they are looking for. If you are someone who will search for “LGBTQ”, you will certainly come across Young Royals, Uncoupled, and numerous others.
All the series and films that are tagged with LGBTQ labels often telecast people from the community itself. This is because they not only want to represent the community but also make the world a better place to live in.
Just when the audience saw that the Dahmer series was tagged with the LGBTQ label, they weren’t happy. Not only the community people were sad but they started wondering why is it so difficult for others to accept them for who they are.
“I feel like it fetishizes this whole horrible moment in Milwaukee history. It shouldn’t be looked at that way, it just feels completely wrong,” drag performer B.J. Daniels told WISN. “I know a lot of my friends, and a lot of people who lived through this period, will not be watching it. They will not be putting money into somebody’s pocket that is literally disturbing the graves of victims”, says a report.
After so much drama, Netflix decided to move the tag of LGBTQ from Dahmer. This was also done with series like Dark and Ominous.
